The Chinese Zodiac
The Chinese Zodiac and its enclosure design were inspired by artist Terri Thoman's east-meets-west approach. Her black and white prints are showcased in a gallery format, created by the book's partial star binding with exposed stitch spine. Together with its accordion-folded text, the overall presentation subtly evokes a Chinese parade dragon when fully open and standing.
Printed on Epson watercolor, and featuring Indian rag-painted, Lama Li Lokta, and Shinriku papers along with slubbed silk book cloth, this miniature's traditional maru chitsu, or wraparound case, closes with cord, brass bead and horn ring. Book measures: 2.75" x 2.13". Edition of 10, $265.
